JOB PURPOSE
To undertake, either individually or as a member of a team, a wide range of hard and soft landscaping, grounds maintenance and external maintenance activities to the highest professional standards. The post holder will possess proven experience in all aspects of landscaping, including site preparation, drainage, paving, turfing, planting, fencing, machinery operation and landscape construction, ensuring all projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the high-quality standards expected by Empardio Limited.
The role requires a motivated and experienced individual who can evidence their work and successes, who can work independently, demonstrate initiative, support and mentor less experienced colleagues where appropriate, and represent the Company professionally whilst delivering exceptional customer service.
This role may be subject to satisfactory Disclosure Scotland checks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake all aspects of hard and soft landscaping on residential, commercial and public sector projects.
- Carry out ground preparation including excavation, levelling, grading and soil improvement.
- Install paving, patios, paths, kerbing, edging, steps, block paving and decorative stone finishes to a high standard.
- Construct fencing, gates, timber structures, decking, raised beds and other landscape features.
- Install drainage systems, land drains, soakaways and associated groundwork where required.
- Prepare and lay high-quality turf and carry out seeding operations.
- Plant trees, shrubs, hedging, herbaceous plants and seasonal bedding in accordance with landscaping plans and specifications.
- Carry out pruning, hedge cutting, tree and shrub maintenance and general horticultural tasks.
- Undertake grass cutting, strimming, weed control and routine grounds maintenance using appropriate equipment.
- Restore and renovate neglected gardens and landscaped areas to a high standard.
- Carry out pressure washing and exterior cleaning of driveways, patios, paths, decking and external surfaces.
- Safely operate, inspect and undertake basic maintenance of landscaping machinery, power tools, trailers and plant equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidance and Health & Safety legislation.
- Load, unload, transport and safely handle materials, machinery and equipment.
- Read and work from drawings, specifications and verbal instructions.
- Identify potential issues on site and communicate solutions promptly to project leaders and management as appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining vehicles, equipment, compounds and stores in a clean, organised and professional condition.
- Mentor and support less experienced team members where appropriate, promoting safe working practices and high-quality workmanship.
- Report customer enquiries, compliments or complaints promptly and professionally.
SERVICE DELIVERY
- Deliver landscaping projects to agreed specifications, programme timescales and Company quality standards.
- Maintain excellent customer relationships through professional communication, reliability and high standards of workmanship.
- Represent Empardio Limited positively at all times whilst working on customer premises.
- Report customer feedback and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure high levels of customer care are consistently delivered in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
HEALTH & SAFETY
- Follow the Empardio Limited Health & Safety Policy, Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments at all times.
- Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments and stop work where unsafe conditions are identified.
- Ensure machinery, vehicles and equipment are operated safely and defects are reported immediately.
- Promote a positive safety culture and actively support safe working practices throughout the Company.
- Ensure sites are left safe, secure and tidy at the end of each working day.
GENERAL
- Carry out all duties associated with the post efficiently, professionally and to the highest standard.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting other operational activities undertaken by Empardio Limited where required.
