Company Overview

BTS Group is dedicated to providing vital support to utility companies across the UK, specialising in vegetation management services for electricity distributor network operators. We also lead in vegetation management, tree surgery, and utility arboriculture, serving clients from the utility, commercial, and private sectors.

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health, Safety & Compliance Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will champion health and safety standards across our operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a culture of safety excellence. Your expertise will help us maintain a safe working environment while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies aligned with industry standards and legal requirements.
Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses to identify hazards and prevent future occurrences.
Provide guidance and training to staff on health and safety best practices and compliance protocols.
Collaborate with operational teams to ensure safety measures are integrated into daily activities.
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
Support managers to carry out their duties and ensuring that those putting people to work have the required knowledge and information necessary
Ensure operational compliance as per the contract requirements, including but not limited to training, qualifications and competencies.
Provide managers with information gained from audits which in turn provides them with opportunities for operational and safety improvements.
Compilation and delivery of monthly client reports.
Understand the financial implications of decisions taken on site during audits in conjunction with managers.
Promote the company in a positive and professional light to clients, sub-contractors and the general public.
Perform programmed observational audits, based on audit schedule
Compile and review Risk Assessments & Method Statements.
Conduct Drug and Alcohol testing where required
Yearly attendance of H&S related seminars to keep up with industry knowledge, innovation and best practice.
Essential Criteria
Proven experience in health and safety advisory roles within industrial or utility environments.
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices applicable to the sector.
Certifications in first aid
Possession or attainment of qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH
Skilled in report writing with the ability to analyse data for root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and liaise with regulatory bodies.
Ability to conduct thorough investigations and recommend corrective actions promptly.
Ability to deal with confidential information in line with GDPR regulations.

Pay: From £40,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Gloucester
