Company description
Bancroft-Livingston Bathrooms is a family-owned and run business based in Gloucestershire. We offer a complete design and installation service, working with high-end showrooms and manufacturers to provide bespoke, handcrafted bathrooms for our clients.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our workmanship, attention to detail and prompt, efficient service. Much of our work comes through recommendation and repeat business, so maintaining a high standard of work and customer service is extremely important to us.
The opportunity
We are looking for an apprentice / trainee bathroom fitter to join our team.
This is an opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career with us, developing skills in bathroom fitting, plumbing, kitchen fitting and associated building work.
No formal trade experience is necessary. We are happy to train the right person and invest our time, knowledge and experience in helping them develop.
In return, we are looking for someone who is committed to learning, improving and becoming a skilled and valued member of our team.
You will initially work alongside our experienced installers, learning how we carry out our work and gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.
What you will learn
The work is varied and will include:
- Plumbing and plumbing repairs
- Bathroom installations and refurbishments
- Kitchen fitting
- Carpentry and joinery
- Tiling
- Decorating and finishing
- Flooring
- General building and preparation work
- Use of hand and power tools
- Working safely, cleanly and professionally in customers' homes
- Learning how to complete work to a high standard
Someone with previous experience in carpentry, joinery, plumbing, decorating, tiling, building or general labouringwho wants to develop further would also be considered.
Progression and pay
There is genuine potential for progression within the business for the right person.
As your skills, knowledge, reliability and ability develop, so will the level of responsibility you are given. Increased responsibility and pay come with demonstrated competence, good workmanship and the ability to work to the standard our customers expect.
Progression is based on ability and development, not simply time served.
For the right candidate, we can offer either a formal apprenticeship or full-time employment as a trainee, depending on experience, age and circumstances. Salary will reflect the level of the role and the candidate's existing skills.
We are investing in training because we want to build a skilled, reliable team for the long term. We are therefore looking for someone who wants to develop their skills with us, take pride in their work and grow with the business.
Not everyone will progress at the same rate or want the same level of responsibility, and that's fine. What matters is that you are committed to learning, improving and becoming a dependable and valued member of the team.
What we are looking for
Your attitude and potential are more important to us than your starting level of experience.
The right person will be:
- Self-motivated and hardworking
- Reliable and punctual
- Keen to learn and improve
- Willing to listen and take instruction
- Able to accept constructive criticism
- Practical and good with their hands
- Careful and attentive to detail
- Proud of the work they produce
- A good communicator
- Respectful of customers and their homes
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Have good energy, stamina and a positive attitude towards physical work
- Take pride in looking after themselves and maintaining good personal standards
- Looking for long-term employment and the opportunity to build a career with us
We would much rather take on someone with little experience who has the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn than someone with more experience who isn't interested in improving.
Driving
A full UK driving licence is preferred.
You will need reliable transport to get to one of our main installers' homes, where you will meet the team and travel to jobs in the company van.
