Full job description

South West Metal Finishing is a leading provider of high-quality metal finishing and surface treatment services. We are committed to delivering exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Engineer to join our Quality team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in quality systems, auditing, compliance, and continuous improvement to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our management systems within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

As Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting quality and compliance activities, coordinating audits, managing calibration programmes, conducting investigations, and ensuring ongoing compliance with industry standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP.

What You'll Be Doing

Quality & Compliance

Support qualification and validation activities.
Review and approve Control of Change documentation where required.
Deliver quality inductions and compliance training.
Attend SQDCP meetings and escalate quality issues as necessary.

Auditing

Plan and conduct internal audits across multiple sites.
Support teams in resolving non-conformances and implementing corrective actions.
Assist with external audits, including customer, BSI, and NADCAP audits.
Conduct competency audits and monitor compliance.

Testing & Investigation

Develop Annual Quality Plans (AQP) for periodic testing.
Report testing performance and results at quality meetings.
Lead investigations into test failures using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D and 5 Why analysis.

Specification & Document Control

Initiate and coordinate specification reviews.
Maintain specification indexes and controlled documentation.
Raise and manage requests for specification amendments.

Calibration Management

Coordinate internal and external calibration activities, including TUS calibrations.
Maintain calibration schedules and records within Q-Pulse.
Ensure equipment remains compliant and fit for purpose.

What We're Looking For

Essential

✔ Strong communication and organisational skills
✔ Excellent attention to detail
✔ Problem-solving and analytical capabilities
✔ Knowledge of quality management systems and compliance standards (AS9100, NADCAP or similar)
✔ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
✔ Experience within a quality, compliance, engineering, or health and safety environment
✔ Familiarity with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies

Desirable

✔ Internal auditing experience
✔ Experience within aerospace, defence, manufacturing, or other regulated industries
✔ Experience using Q-Pulse or similar quality management systems
✔ Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice
