Are you an experienced software engineer who instinctively spots gaps in technical reasoning and understands the complex realities of software development? Do you have 8 to 20 hours per week available alongside your main job or freelance projects? Join us in shaping how AI understands and applies software engineering expertise at scale.

About the Role
10x.team connects expert freelancers with leading AI labs building next-generation models. We are looking for knowledgeable software engineers based in the EU or UK to enhance the accuracy, depth, and real-world relevance of AI-powered engineering systems.

What You Will Do

Review and refine AI-generated outputs related to software engineering, technical documentation, code quality, and practical aspects of software development
Evaluate AI responses for technical accuracy, practicality, and alignment with real-world development standards
Draft realistic engineering scenarios based on your direct professional experience
Create scenario variations from different perspectives (e.g. engineer, client, product manager, or stakeholder)
Identify gaps, oversights, or weak reasoning in AI-generated engineering content

In simple terms:
You will assess and improve AI-generated content, ensuring it reflects true engineering reasoning, authentic technical documentation, and practical workflows. Rather than conducting traditional development projects, you’ll apply your expertise to help AI systems understand and reason about software engineering at scale.

Who You Are

A senior-level software engineer with significant professional experience within the EU or UK
Experienced in advising on, preparing, and executing software projects and technical deliverables
Skilled at evaluating code, documentation, and engineering standards
Comfortable working independently and providing structured, critical feedback
Available for 8–20 hours per week, with prompt availability

The missions listed for AI Lab roles are not traditional job openings. AI Lab work is often highly confidential as this exposes information of what an AI Lab is working on, and project requests are unpredictable. When an AI Lab request comes in, we often need to respond within 24 hours with suitable talent.

Matching depends on the specific needs of each AI Lab project and your niche expertise. Once your profile is reviewed and approved, you may be matched to relevant AI Lab projects when suitable opportunities arise.

This can happen within hours, but it may also take months, depending on the researchers at the AI labs and their project needs.
