Kitchen Assistant
Key Responsibilities
- To prepare and present breakfast to all residents meeting nutritional and hydration needs
- To assist the cook to serve Lunch to the residents
- To assist with preparation of foods such as sandwiches, boiled eggs and grated cheese, etc..
- To check the menu on each shift and complete any required preparation for the evening meal including individual requests.
- To be aware of the special diets that may be required
- To complete the morning drinks trolley and collect all used cups and breakfast equipment prior to lunch time.
- To dispose of food waste/rubbish before finishing your shift
- To help prepare trolley/cutlery for lunch and to ensure that trolley is collected promptly, to wash lunch dishes before 1.30pm
- To load the dishwasher and/or wash-up by hand, ensure that resident’s lunch dishes are washed in dishwasher for next mealtime.
- To ensure the kitchen is left to a high level of cleanliness before leaving your shift, not leaving until this is the case
- To assist/ put away any supplies delivered to the Home (Delivery day)
- General
- To attend and participate in staff meetings and attend all mandatory training, supervision and appraisals, when required
- To communicate effectively with other staff, relatives and visitors including professional agencies regarding residents
- To be fully aware of the fire policy and the awareness of food hygiene regulations, ensuring adherence to the Homes Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
- To wear uniform provided with plain black trousers and flat sensible shoes at all times
- Ensure that you do not use a mobile telephone while on duty
- Understand your duty to whistleblow if you witness bad practice or harm to a resident within the Home

- To take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions
- To be fully aware and comply with infection control policies and procedures and appropriate hand hygiene technique
- To report immediately to the person in charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self or another
- To report to the Management, Maintenance man or person in charge of any faults, damaged equipment or any potential hazard

Pay: £12.81-£12.96 per hour
