Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our culinary team as a 1st Year Apprentice Chef. This entry-level position offers a valuable opportunity to develop foundational skills in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be mentored by experienced chefs, gaining practical experience in various aspects of culinary arts while contributing to the creation of high-quality dishes. This paid apprenticeship is ideal for those passionate about pursuing a career in the hospitality industry and eager to learn new skills.

Duties

Assist in preparing ingredients and components for menu items, ensuring all food safety standards are met
Support senior chefs with cooking and plating dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to hygiene regulations
Help with meal preparation during busy service periods, ensuring timely delivery of orders
Follow instructions from head chefs regarding special menus or dietary requirements
Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and proper storage of ingredients
Contribute positively to the team environment by demonstrating a strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Qualifications

A keen interest in food preparation, cooking, and the culinary arts
Previous experience in a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is advantageous but not essential
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Willingness to undertake training and develop new skills in a fast-paced environment
Basic understanding of meal preparation and serving procedures is desirable
