Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and passionate Sous Chef to join our busy kitchen team. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in leading the kitchen, maintaining high food standards, supporting junior chefs and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations during our busy trading periods.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
Prepare and cook high-quality dishes to company standards.
Organise kitchen stations and ensure an efficient service.
Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, providing coaching and training where required.
Assist with menu development and the creation of daily and monthly specials.
Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation.
Manage stock levels, place orders and carry out stock takes.
Receive, check and sign off supplier deliveries.
Minimise waste through effective stock rotation and kitchen management.
Ensure all food safety, HACCP and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
Complete temperature checks, cleaning schedules and all required kitchen documentation.
Maintain excellent communication with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
Remain calm, organised and lead by example during busy service periods.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie ready to progress.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent knowledge of food safety and HACCP procedures.
Experience with stock control, ordering and GP awareness.
Passion for producing high-quality food and maintaining high standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
Flexible, reliable and able to motivate others.
