We are looking to recruit an energetic, motivated and forward-thinking Deputy Nursery Manager to join our early learning team at our Thornliebank setting. You will be required to work as an enthusiastic, effective member of an early years team supporting, leading and motivating staff.
You will be an innovative educator who will work in partnership with others to lead and develop the service and alongside the nursery Manager.
General
- Support the nursery Manager in daily role .
- Undertakes any other duties within the scope of the post required.
- Maintains a flexible approach to the work of the nursery in response to the needs of children, families, and staff.
Staff management and development
- Assisting in leading and managing a team, motivating them with a shared sense of direction, pride and energy
- Support the manager with recruitment and overall management of all childcare and other staff, including staff rotas and chairing staff meetings as appropriate
- Assist in monitoring and self-evaluating the service to ensure effective learning and teaching and continuous improvement.
- Support in Identifying staff training and development needs and ensures these needs are met.
- Help to Plan, manage and implement one-to-one meetings and appraisals with Manager and Team Leaders.
Operational Control
- Assist in Leading the developments of the service to the highest standard to always ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
- Assist in ensuring that the nursery’s procedure on Child Protection is adhered to liaising with the Area Manager and local Social Services as required.
- Ensure that the whistleblowing policy is disseminated, understood and used if required.
- Ensures the highest standard of safety and security within the nursery.
- Operates the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene within the nursery.
- Is partly responsible for the day-to-day management of the premises and services, liaising with Area Manager to ensure essential repairs and maintenance of the building are carried out.
Curriculum development and good childcare practice
- Assist in ensuring that the planning and organisation of quality educational provision is carried out to meet the relevant curriculum documents
- To aid in developing and implementing initiatives that support children ensuring their individual needs are met within the group setting.
- Work in partnership with your manager and team to deliver the Social Care Standards and educational programme to a high standard on an ongoing basis, taking into account any equality and diversity requirements.
- Support in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the curriculum provided and identifies areas for development.
- Assist in ensuring that all individual records of children’s wellbeing and educational developmental progress are kept up to date.
Parental involvement: managing relationships and sharing information
- Support the nursery to build strong parent/carer relationships through day-to-day liaison with parents, resolving any issues or complaints as they arise.
- Support in encouraging the involvement of parents/carers at all levels in the work of the nursery, including regular reviews of children’s progress.
- Support in delivering childcare in a way that meets parents’ needs and works in partnership with them providing high levels of customer care at all times.
Liaison with outside agencies and other parties
- Aid in developing links and a close working relationship with the local authority and ensure that the nursery receives all information and support available.
- Aid in developing working relationships with sister nurseries and other childcare organisations to ensure that provision of care is as high quality and innovative as possible.
- Aid in maintaining strong and positive relationships with Care Inspectorate.
- Develop a good collaborative relationship with schools in the local area.
