Children's Residential Support Worker - Learning disabilities

Truro, Cornwall

Salary:£14.05 - £14.75 Plus Sleep ins paid at £62.64 working out to an extra £3000-£6000 per annum From April 1st 2026

Hours: Full-time, 39 hours per week working long day shifts and sleep ins.

Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence is required

We are looking for a children's support worker to become part of our family home, caring for children who have sometimes complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. You would be the person to give encouragement and praise when needed, to be patient and understanding during times of crisis and to inspire them to grow and develop.

The role can be emotionally challenging and you could be handling difficult situations BUT you could be the person to change a life for the better.

What do you need?

We want people who are naturally caring, nurturing and emotionally resilient.
Great communication skills, positive and energetic to get involved with activities.
Experience and qualifications in supporting children or transferable skills such as Adult LD, SEN education or working with vulnerable people.
Ability to remain calm during sometimes challenging situations.
Full UK Driving licence is essential.
You need to be able to work flexibly in caring for the children. This will include working shifts and sleep-ins.

Be part of a caring team that provides a safe and loving home for children and young people
Act as a positive role model to to give encouragement and praise.
Inspire our young people on a daily basis.
Provide emotional support to allow the children to reach their full potential in sometimes challenging situations
Build friendships and trusting relationships
Help them to find pleasure in everyday tasks
Empower them to make decisions about themselves
