Credit Control / Accounts Assistant – Part Time

Salary: £25,500 – £29,000 per year, depending on experience, pro rata
Location: Llanishen, Cardiff
Hours: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

About the Role

Rockall Safety Equipment Ltd is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Control / Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team in Llanishen.

This is a hands-on finance and administration role, and the successful candidate must be highly organised, exceptionally accurate and confident working with computerised accounting systems.

You will be responsible for managing customer accounts, following up outstanding payments, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the wider accounts function. You will communicate directly with business customers regarding invoices and payments and will also assist with accounts payable and supplier account reconciliation.

Previous experience in credit control or accounts administration is essential, and experience using Sage accounting software is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring and managing customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed terms.
Following up overdue invoices by telephone and email to secure prompt payment.
Maintaining accurate customer account information and records within Sage.
Recording all credit control activity, including payment reminders, customer communications and dispute resolutions.
Contacting customers professionally regarding outstanding invoices and account queries.
Investigating and resolving customer account and payment queries promptly and accurately.
Assisting with accounts payable transactions, including processing invoices.
Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any discrepancies.
Reviewing outstanding account balances and identifying potential payment issues at an early stage.
Supporting the monitoring of payment trends and customer credit limits.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Providing a professional and courteous service when communicating with customers and suppliers.
Working closely with colleagues to ensure accounts and financial administration are completed efficiently and accurately.
Assisting with general finance and administration duties as required.

Essential Experience & Skills

Previous experience in credit control, accounts or finance administration – essential.
Experience using Sage accounting software – highly desirable.
Strong data-entry skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Previous experience dealing with customer accounts and outstanding payments.
Good understanding of accounts payable processes and invoice reconciliation.
Strong IT and computer skills.
Excellent keyboard skills.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Excellent telephone and email communication skills.
Confident and professional when dealing with customers and suppliers.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to analyse account information and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
Positive, helpful and professional attitude.
Reliable, conscientious and committed to delivering high-quality work.
Desire to learn, succeed and develop within the organisation.
