Who are we? Jays Scrapyard and Waste Management is one of the top scrap and waste management services based in Plymouth, Devon and we pride ourselves on our outstanding levels of customer service. We are an established local company, well known in the Westcounty, and we have an excellent reputation for providing an excellent scrap metal service at competitive prices.

Who are we looking for? We are seeking a hardworking, dedicated team member to join us, you will need to have superb customer service skills and work well as a team. This is a good role for someone with a great work ethic.

Yard & Operations Duties

Sorting & Grading: Identifying, grading, and separating ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Depot Maintenance: Assisting with yard housekeeping, such as sweeping, clearing spillages, and keeping the site tidy to avoid hazards.
Customer Service: Assisting trade and public customers with weighing-in their scrap and directing them to specific drop-off bays.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

Licensing: A valid full UK Driving Licence with 3.5 tonne experience would be a bonus, but it isn't essential.
Certification: Forklift Truck (FLT) license and/or 360 Excavator (Grab) tickets are highly advantageous.
Industry Knowledge: An understanding of, or willingness to learn, metal grades and waste disposal regulations.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform heavy manual labour in outdoor environments and in all weather conditions.
Health & Safety: Strict adherence to site health and safety procedures and environmental compliance policies.
Customer satisfaction: We pride ourselves on delivering customer service that goes over and above.

£13 per hour starting salary, rising with experience. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 with overtime available.

Full training will be given on site.
