At The Cornish Arms, we believe every great kitchen is built on teamwork. Whether you’re preparing fresh ingredients, keeping the pot wash moving or supporting the chefs during service, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the high standards our guests have come to expect.

We’re looking for a hardworking and dependable Kitchen Assistant / Prep Chef to become an integral part of our award-winning kitchen team.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on position where no two days are the same. You’ll spend much of your time preparing fresh ingredients and supporting the chefs with daily mise en place, while helping to maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.

The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, with typical working hours of 9:00am–3:00pm. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is essential to support the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing fresh vegetables, salads, sauces, garnishes and daily mise en place
Supporting the chefs with food preparation and daily production
Assisting with deliveries, stock rotation and organisation
Washing pots, pans and kitchen equipment throughout the day
Operating the dishwasher and maintaining clean and organised work areas
Carrying out general kitchen porter duties to ensure the kitchen remains clean, safe and efficient
Completing daily and weekly cleaning schedules
Following all food hygiene, health & safety and company procedures
Supporting the wider kitchen team wherever needed to deliver exceptional food and service
