About FCUP Sports
FCUP Sports is a family-run sports retail and distribution business based in Wimborne, Dorset. We sell and distribute a growing range of sports, watersports and outdoor-lifestyle brands through our own websites, major online marketplaces and retail partners.
We are looking for a talented Junior Graphic & Digital Designer to join our team. This would be an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate, or someone at the beginning of their design career, who wants to develop their skills and grow within one business.
You will have the opportunity to work across several brands, creating everything from website graphics and email campaigns to social media adverts, posters, product imagery and marketplace content.
The role
You will work closely with our sales and marketing team to create engaging, consistent and commercially effective designs.
Your work will include:
- Creating graphics and banners for our websites
- Designing email marketing campaigns
- Producing paid social media adverts and organic social content
- Designing posters, flyers, brochures and other printed materials
- Creating product graphics for Amazon and other online marketplaces
- Editing and preparing product photography
- Helping to develop the visual identity of our different brands
- Preparing files for print and digital use
- Supporting new product launches and marketing campaigns
- Helping with basic website content and page layouts
- Taking ownership of projects from the initial idea through to the finished creative
An interest in sport, watersports or outdoor activities would be a real advantage. We have found that being interested in the products you are designing and writing about helps the creative process enormously.
Who we are looking for:
You may have recently completed a degree or another qualification in graphic design, digital design or a related creative subject. However, your portfolio, attitude and ability are more important to us than the exact qualification you hold.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong eye for layout, colour, typography and visual consistency
- Can confidently create content for websites, emails, social media and print
- Has experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
- Understands how designs need to change across different digital platforms
- Can follow an established brand identity while bringing new ideas
- Is organised and able to manage several projects at once
- Is comfortable receiving feedback and developing their work
- Has good written English and attention to detail
- Is enthusiastic, dependable and willing to learn
- Wants to become part of a business and grow with it over the long term
Experience with photography, video editing, animation, Shopify, Magento or email marketing software would be helpful, but it is not essential.
Using AI creatively
We are particularly interested in designers who understand how to use AI-assisted creative tools effectively. We do not see AI as a replacement for creative talent, original thinking or strong design skills, but as a tool that can enhance ideas, improve workflows and open up new creative possibilities.
We would love to see examples of work where you have used AI thoughtfully to improve the final result. Please explain which elements involved AI and how your own creative direction shaped the finished work.
A small-business attitude
FCUP Sports is a relatively small, family-run business, so we all help one another when needed. Your main role will be graphic and digital design, but there may occasionally be times when we need an extra pair of hands elsewhere, particularly if another team member is absent.
This could include helping prepare products for a photoshoot, organising samples or helping the warehouse team during a particularly busy period. We are looking for someone who is happy to get involved and understands that working in a small business can be varied.
This is not intended to take away from the design role. It is simply part of being a supportive and flexible team.
What we can offer
- A permanent, full-time creative position
- The opportunity to work across several growing sports and outdoor brands
- A varied mix of digital and print projects
- Direct involvement in product launches and marketing campaigns
- Support, responsibility and creative freedom from an early stage
- Opportunities for professional development and career progression
- The potential to develop into a senior creative or management role
- A friendly, down-to-earth working environment
- 28 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays, following successful completion of the probationary period
- Workplace pension scheme
- Staff discounts across our sports and outdoor brands
- Free on-site parking
This role would suit someone from the local area who is looking to begin their creative career and build a future within one company. We are not looking for someone who simply wants a short-term stepping stone. We want to find the right person, invest in their development and give them the opportunity to grow as the business grows.
