Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Sawyer to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised skills in woodworking and fabrication within a supportive environment. The role involves learning and assisting with various aspects of sawmill operations, contributing to the production of high-quality timber products. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in mechanical processes, tool handling, and assembly techniques, with potential for career progression within the company.

Role

Learn to cut raw timber to specification in preparation for machining.
Work from cutting lists and develop the ability to calculate cutting sizes accurately using basic maths skills.
Receive training in the safe setup and operation of saws and other machinery.
Learn how to assess the most efficient cutting process to minimise waste.
Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety.
Assist with routine equipment checks and general mill duties as required.

Candidate

Confident with basic maths and able to work accurately from measurements and cutting lists.
Keen to learn new skills and develop a career within the timber industry.
No previous saw or timber industry experience is required - full training will be provided.
Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Reliable, organised and trustworthy with a positive attitude.
Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to support colleagues to achieve team goals.
