Full job description

The Weardale Practice is a friendly, rural GP surgery serving approximately 7,150 patients across Weardale. We are a small, committed team providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Are you a friendly, organised, and motivated individual who enjoys helping people and working as part of a team? The Weardale Practice is looking for a Receptionist / Administrator to join our busy and welcoming practice team.

As the first point of contact for many of our patients, you will play a vital role in delivering excellent customer service while supporting the smooth running of our practice. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines reception duties with administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Full training will be provided. Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare administration setting is beneficial but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice.
Managing face-to-face, telephone, and online appointment requests.
Answering and directing incoming calls.
Processing repeat prescription requests.
Maintaining accurate patient records and data entry.
Scanning and filing patient documentation.
Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Liaising with clinical staff, hospitals, community services, and external agencies.
Supporting the wider reception and administrative teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
Patient registration and updating records accurately
supporting clinicians with administrative tasks
Processing clinical correspondence and information (paper and electronic)
Care-navigating patients to appropriate services
Supporting the triage clinician where required
Managing and transferring messages and information to clinical staff

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £12.71 per hour
