Tutor/ Coach

Overall Role
To deliver high quality sport and education provision, supporting learners through teaching, coaching, assessment, and pastoral guidance while contributing to the effective running of the course team.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching, Coaching & Assessment

Deliver engaging classroom and practical sport sessions
Support learners with portfolios, assignments and progress reviews
Carry out initial assessments and set SMART targets
Track and monitor learner progress using internal systems and ILPs

Pastoral & Progression

Act as personal tutor for learners, supporting academic and personal development
Support progression into employment, apprenticeships or higher education
Liaise with parents, employers and internal teams to maintain engagement
Identify and support at risk learners

Course Delivery & Quality

Plan and deliver inclusive coaching sessions and enrichment activities
Contribute to quality improvement and share good practice
Use learner feedback to improve delivery
Promote teamwork, discipline and healthy lifestyles

Resources & Team Working

Use and manage resources effectively to support learning
Contribute to course organisation and learner experience
Work collaboratively across the team to meet targets

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Level 3 qualification in Sport Coaching and Development (or equivalent)
Teaching qualification at Level 4 or above (or willingness to work towards)
Experience working in Further Education or with post-16 learners
Experience delivering sport-related teaching or coaching
Knowledge of curriculum requirements and awarding bodies
Understanding of learner support needs, including barriers to learning
Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusive practice

Essential Skills & Attributes

Ability to plan and deliver engaging teaching and coaching sessions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisation and IT skills
Ability to work flexibly and under pressure
Commitment to learner success and high standards
Ability to support English and maths within teaching
Commitment to continuous professional development
Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Who is Access Sport?

Originally established in 2006 and formerly known as Coaching Connexions, Access Sport was created in 2019 following a merger with the biggest private training provider in the country Access Creative College (formerly Access to Music). We are part of Access Education Group which boasts 32 campuses nationwide with over 5,000 students & apprentices across ACC, dBs Institute (Higher Education) & Access Sport. We’re an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider.

We provide our players' teams with links to professional clubs/ academies as well as Semi-Professional clubs at various levels. At each of our campuses/ sites we employ tutors, coaches and various other roles to support the development of our students/ players. With weekly fixtures in various college league formats (AOC/ EFL/ National Youth Alliance) and daily training sessions, taken from a dedicated curriculum, we aim to provide our students with the most realistic elite sporting environment.

In return, staff will receive regular CPD via experienced practitioners, access to the best industry-related technology (VEO/ Sports session planner/ Catapult GPS vests) and an opportunity to work alongside and against professional clubs to build/ enhance your Footballing and Teaching CV. This extends to international competitions and tours to Europe, USA and Asia. Access Sport will help you to develop personally and professionally, we provide competitive salaries and expenses for travel. Our management and quality team has strong links within the sector and within the sports industry to help all staff to progress within or beyond our organisation.
