Sunday to Wednesday shift - 06:00 - 18:00 days

Overall Purpose:

To process all raw milk and cream delivered to site into safe, high-quality products for direct consumption or further manufacturing. The Process department ensures optimal utilisation and balance of milk and cream year-round, contributing directly to the success of the entire dairy operation. The Process Operator also plays a key role in product quality assurance, conducting in-process product testing to maintain consistency and compliance with standards.

Key Accountabilities:

Operate and monitor HTST pasteurisers, BCPTs, RCTs, raw silos, and bulk cream tanks.
Conduct in-process product testing (e.g. temperature, fat content, pH, and organoleptic checks) to ensure compliance with specifications.
Ensure all Critical Control Points (CCPs) are met, verified, and recorded throughout processing.
Load and unload tankers, manage raw stock rotation (FIFO), and perform tanker CIP when required.
Maintain hygiene standards; carry out equipment CIP and follow “clean as you go” practices.
Accurately complete production and testing documentation to ensure full traceability.
Communicate effectively with relevant departments (Laboratory, Creamery, Bottling, Transport, Engineering, and Planning) to maintain smooth production flow.
Assist with troubleshooting process or quality deviations, escalating issues and supporting investigations.
Support cost-control initiatives through waste reduction, efficient use of energy and water, and optimised CIP operations.
Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to legal, quality, and food safety standards.
Maintain a safe working environment and promote correct use of PPE and chemical safety.
Support, mentor, and train team members, particularly in high-hazard and testing procedures.
Ensure all products meet the highest standards of safety, authenticity, legality, and quality by implementing and maintaining robust systems aligned with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and industry best practices.

Essential skills and competencies:

Skilled in operating pasteurisers, cream tanks, raw silos, and related process equipment.
Experience with SCADA/HMI/SAP systems and temperature control monitoring.
Knowledge of dairy processing, quality testing, CCPs, hygiene, and traceability standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office for production and testing data entry and reporting.
Strong understanding of food safety, testing protocols, and legal compliance.
Able to work cross-functionally with production, laboratory, transport, and planning teams.

Desirable skills and competencies:

Prior experience in a high-hazard food production environment.
Formal food safety, hygiene, or product testing qualifications.
Training in chemical safety and handling.
Experience supporting audits or quality inspections.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.

Hours:

Sunday to Wednesday shift
06:00 - 18:00

Pay:

Starting rate £15.66, raising to £16.50 upon successful completion of training.

Pay: From £15.66 per hour
