Handyman / Maintenance Technician
We are looking for an experienced Handyman / Maintenance Technician to look after our residential apartment buildings in Sheffield.
We own and manage 7 multi-storey apartment blocks, and we need someone who is practical, reliable and happy to turn their hand to all types of maintenance and repair work.
This is a varied, hands-on job. One day you might be fixing a leaking tap or adjusting a door, and the next you could be painting an apartment, repairing some joinery or carrying out general repairs around the buildings.
What you'll be doing
- General repairs and maintenance around our apartment buildings
- Painting and decorating
- Basic plumbing, including leaks, taps, toilets and blockages
- Joinery and carpentry repairs
- Plaster patching and small wall repairs
- Basic tiling
- Repairing and adjusting doors, locks, handles and hinges
- Replacing light bulbs and reporting electrical faults
- Carrying out repairs inside apartments
- Maintaining corridors, stairwells and other communal areas
- Checking the buildings for maintenance issues and fixing problems where possible
- Helping prepare empty apartments for new residents
- Assisting with small refurbishment and improvement jobs
- Dealing with residents in a friendly and professional way
- Keeping a simple record of jobs completed, including photos where needed
- Calling in or reporting jobs that need a specialist contractor
What we're looking for
You don't need to be qualified in every trade, but you should be an experienced all-round handyman who is comfortable doing a bit of everything.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience as a handyman, maintenance person or similar
- Good general DIY and repair skills
- Experience with basic plumbing, joinery and decorating
- The ability to work out what's wrong and find a sensible solution
- Confidence working on your own and organising your workload
- A reliable and practical approach
- Good communication skills when dealing with residents and other staff
- Basic ability to use a smartphone to receive jobs, take photos and provide updates
Above all, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, gets things done and looks after the buildings as if they were their own.
The role is based across our 7 apartment blocks in Sheffield and offers plenty of variety for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work. There will be opertunity to work across our larger portolfio acorss the uk.
