Job Overview
Layers Bakeshop™ is a well-established bakery and desserts business with an international presence, now expanding and launching in the UK market. We are seeking experienced and bakers/pastry chefs to lead our baking operations and support the development of our product range.

This role is ideal for a skilled professional with a strong background in baking, icing, and decorative work, who can confidently follow established recipes while also contributing original ideas and new product development. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining quality standards, mentoring junior team members, and shaping our UK offering.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, bake, and finish a wide range of products including cakes, cupcakes, doughnuts, cookies, muffins, and specialty items
Accurately follow existing recipes while ensuring consistency and high-quality output
Develop and test new baking and icing recipes based on proven experience and industry knowledge
Design and execute cake and cupcake decorations, including icing finishes and decorative techniques
Lead, support, and mentor junior bakers
Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are consistently met
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and production areas
Assist with inventory control, ordering, and stock management
Contribute ideas for seasonal items, menu updates, and product improvements.

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years’ professional experience working as a baker
Proven experience in recipe development for baking and icing
Strong skills in cake, cupcake, and dessert decoration
In-depth understanding of baking techniques, icing preparation, and food presentation
Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards
Strong leadership, organisational, and time-management skills
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Formal or academic qualification in baking or culinary arts
Experience contributing to menu development or seasonal product launches.
