Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of traditional Japanese sushi preparation, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and hygiene. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your creativity and craftsmanship in a vibrant dining environment. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi dishes that delight our guests and uphold our restaurant’s reputation for excellence.

Previous Experience NOT required.

Duties

Prepare a variety of sushi dishes including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and other Japanese delicacies with precision and artistry.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation areas in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Source fresh ingredients and ensure proper storage to preserve quality and freshness.
Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi recipes and presentation styles.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management proactively.
Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during busy periods.
Uphold the restaurant’s commitment to customer satisfaction by delivering consistently high-quality dishes.

Preferred Skills

Experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a professional kitchen environment.
Extensive knowledge of traditional Japanese sushi techniques, ingredients, and presentation styles.
Excellent knife skills with the ability to prepare fish, vegetables, and rice efficiently and accurately.
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
Creativity in designing visually appealing sushi platters that enhance guest experience.
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A passion for Japanese cuisine and a desire to continually improve culinary skills through training or self-development.
