Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Bistro Chef to join our independent Coffee House on a part-time basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills within a vibrant and welcoming environment. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation, contribute to the daily kitchen operations, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. This position is ideal for those with a keen interest in cooking and hospitality, eager to gain valuable experience in a busy coffee shop setting.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of a variety of food items, including sandwiches, pastries, and light meals.
Support the kitchen team with cooking and plating dishes to meet quality standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in accordance with food safety regulations.
Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency.
Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and stock levels are monitored regularly.
Support in meal preparation during busy periods to ensure timely service.
Adhere to health and safety policies at all times, including proper handling of food and equipment.
Contribute positively to team efforts, assisting colleagues as needed to deliver excellent customer service.

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation or cooking is essential.
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
Experience working in a restaurant or coffee shop / bistro environment.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
A genuine interest in culinary arts and hospitality.
Good communication skills and a friendly attitude towards customers and team members.
Ability to follow instructions carefully and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
