COMMIS CHEF SOUGHT FOR NEWLY RENOVATED PUB IN SHROPSHIRE

Position: Commis Chef
Location: The Fox at Ryton, Shropshire
Salary: £13.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, Wednesday-Sunday
Reports to: Head Chef

The Opportunity

Join us as Commis Chef at The Fox at Ryton, a stunning 17th century pub that reopened in December after extensive refurbishment and new management. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious young chef to develop their skills in a quality kitchen, working with exceptional seasonal produce in the heart of Shropshire countryside.

What You'll Do

Assist the Head Chef in daily food preparation and service across our 50-cover restaurant plus outdoor seating. Prepare ingredients, cook dishes to specification, and maintain your section to the highest standards. Support stock rotation, kitchen cleanliness, and food safety compliance while learning all aspects of our seasonal, locally sourced menu.

What You Bring

Culinary qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) or relevant kitchen experience. Level 2 Food Hygiene certification required (Level 3 desirable). You are eager to learn, reliable, and able to work at pace under pressure. A genuine passion for food, fresh ingredients, and a desire to develop your career in a quality kitchen environment.

What We Offer

£13.00 per hour (40 hours per week, Weds - Sun), 28 days holiday including bank holidays, pension scheme, structured training and development programme, mentoring from experienced chefs, and the chance to grow your career as part of our community ownership model.
