Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and reliable Yard Assistant to join our dynamic team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient yard environment. Your proactive approach will ensure materials are properly handled, stored, and prepared for shipment or use. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on skills in warehouse operations, materials handling, and equipment management while supporting the overall productivity of our operations. Responsibilities

Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts and other equipment, ensuring safe handling at all times
Organize and maintain yard storage areas to optimize space and accessibility
Conduct routine inspections of yard equipment, including forklifts, for mechanical issues or safety hazards
Support shipping and receiving activities by verifying inbound and outbound shipments against documentation
Move materials efficiently within the yard using proper lifting techniques and mechanical tools
Maintain accurate records of inventory movements within the warehouse management system (WMS)
Collaborate with team members to ensure safety protocols are followed during all yard activities

Skills

Prior warehouse experience preferred, preferably in a materials handling or construction environment
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking inventory and shipments
Mechanical knowledge to identify basic equipment issues and perform minor repairs or maintenance
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift
Experience with shipping & receiving processes, including documentation verification
Strong understanding of construction site or warehouse safety standards and procedures
