Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Operative/Picker to join our logistics team. This role involves handling a variety of warehouse tasks, including order picking, packing, and stock management, to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining stock accuracy and supporting shipping and receiving processes within a busy warehouse environment.

Duties

Pick materials/components according to production orders or pick lists, ensuring correct quantity, part number, location and quality.
Deliver the picked items to the production area or dispatch zone in time to meet production/dispatch schedules.
Maintain inventory accuracy: recording transactions, reporting discrepancies (missing items, damaged goods, mis-picks).
Ensure good warehouse housekeeping: keep aisles, racks and pallets tidy, apply 5S/lean principles where required.
Comply with health & safety, site rules and company procedures.
Work as part of a team: communicating with Supervisors, warehouse colleagues, production operators to ensure smooth operations.
Perform other reasonable duties from time to time as requested by your supervisor (e.g., assisting with stock takes, forklift-truck support if/when qualified).

Qualifications

Previous experience in warehouse operations or logistics is preferred but not essential as training will be provided
Knowledge of materials handling, picking & packing, and stock management processes
Mechanical knowledge or experience operating forklift trucks is advantageous
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is desirable
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift
Good organisational skills with attention to detail for quality control tasks
Physical fitness to handle manual handling duties and long periods of standing or walking within the warehouse environment
Strong team player with good communication skills
