We’re looking for a creative, organised, and enthusiastic PR and Social Media Executive to join our growing team — someone keen to develop their skills, support client campaigns, and build a strong career in PR, social and integrated communications.
The Role
Our PR and Social Media Executive will be responsible for a mix of content creation, media relations and social media management.
Their job role will entail a mixture of tasks, from curating, writing, and scheduling social media posts on behalf of both brands and key spokespeople, to creating articles, press releases and pitching them to the media.
They will work with and support other members of the agency for one of our key B2B technology clients, and have the ability to balance and prioritise their workload according to deadlines and campaign schedules.
As a new member of the Spa team, they will quickly gain experience within a highly specialised and growing B2B tech agency, and work within a friendly, fun and results-driven environment.
PR Responsibilities
- To draft press releases, news stories, articles, and product announcements
- To network with and build strong relationships with key journalists, influencers, and analysts
- To regularly pitch press releases and article ideas by phone or email
- To distribute press releases via Newswires
- To respond to inbound queries and emails from journalists
- To help secure interviews and editorial meetings with key journalists for the client’s spokespeople - in person or over the phone - and facilitate, where appropriate
- To join the client and team members at industry events
- To brainstorm fresh ideas for PR and social media campaigns
- To plan content using Google Docs and manage delivery
- To monitor media coverage and report results to both the wider team and client
- To regularly liaise with the client and team members via telephone, email, conference calls or face-to-face
Social Media Responsibilities
- To develop and manage social media campaigns that increase brand awareness and engagement
- To manage and facilitate social media communities, responding to posts and developing discussions
- To manage the client’s organic social media presence across LinkedIn prodominantly
- To help create and deliver reports detailing traffic, engagement and follower growth
- To brainstorm fresh ideas for social media campaigns
- To plan content using Google Docs and manage delivery via tools like Hootsuite
- To write engaging thought leadership, brand or product posts
- To form relationships with key technology influencers
- To monitor and report on performance
Key skills
- English language fluency
- Copywriting: You must be hot on spelling, grammar and proof-reading, as well as have a creative flair for producing engaging content with a tech-twist.
- Communication: From sharing ideas with your team, to pitching stories to journalists, you need to organise information in a succinct and interesting way to capture the targets’ attention.
- Strong interpersonal skills: Whether it’s over the phone, by email or in person, PR is all about people, so you need to be approachable, friendly and empathetic. You should be able to relate to people on different levels within the agency, with clients and with the media.
- Timekeeping: You will often be working to tight media deadlines as well as meeting the demands and pressures of both your team and the client, so you need to be able to work quickly and efficiently, without compromising on quality.
- Resilience: You need to be confident enough to pick up the phone to journalists and resilient enough to handle criticism and rejection if/ when received. This however, will build with time and practice.
- Software: You’ll need some skills in Google Apps, Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Powerpoint - to deliver client content, presentations and reporting.
