Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated HGV Class 1 Night Driver to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) Class 1 with a double deck trailer during night shifts, ensuring timely arrival at a designated hub and return. Your expertise in commercial driving, combined with a proactive attitude, will help us maintain our high standards of service and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced logistics operation that values professionalism, efficiency, and commitment.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a Class 1 heavy goods vehicle during night shifts, adhering strictly to all road safety regulations and company policies
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck’s safety and compliance with legal requirements
Check the loaded cargo to ensure stability and security of the load,
Plan efficient routes to meet arrival and departure schedules while maintaining compliance with driving hours regulations
Complete accurate delivery documentation, including logs, manifests, and delivery paperwork
Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding statuses or any issues encountered on route
Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with clients, warehouse staff, and other stakeholders

Requirements

Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving license with a clean driving record
Proven experience as a commercial driver or delivery driver, preferably with flatbed cargo handling experience
Strong understanding of road safety laws and regulations related to large vehicle operation
Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading/unloading and securing cargo on bed
Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with UK road networks or relevant local routes
Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards customers and team members
Flexibility to work night shifts consistently and adapt to changing schedules
