We're looking for a Facilities Manager to join the Attingham Estate, based primarily at Attingham Park and Sunnycroft. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in caring for important historic buildings and visitor facilities, including historic houses, estate buildings, workshops, commercial areas, visitor reception buildings and car parks.
As part of a estate designated for growth, you'll help ensure these special places remain safe, compliant and welcoming for everyone while supporting ambitious plans to improve the visitor experience and restore the natural environment across the wider estate. We're looking for a well-organised, proactive individual with strong leadership skills to ensure our properties meet all relevant Health & Safety, environmental, fire and security standards.
What it's like to work here:Attingham Park is one of the National Trust's busiest places, welcoming more than 610,000 visitors each year, with numbers continuing to grow. With a wide variety of buildings and facilities in our care, no two days are the same. Some days you'll be planning preventative maintenance, managing contractors and delivering compliance programmes. On others, you'll be responding to operational issues, leading projects or ensuring the essential services that keep our properties running safely and efficiently are in place.
The Facilities Team consists of the Facilities Manager, supported by one Facilities Co-ordinator, one Business Services Coordinator, three Facilities Assistants and a valued volunteer cohort. Alongside leading facilities management, the team also delivers key Business Services functions across the portfolio, including customer service support, finance and banking processes, and business administration that underpin the day-to-day operation of our properties. Together, you'll be part of a friendly, collaborative team working to conserve these remarkable places and deliver the National Trust's ambition to care for them For Everyone, For Ever.
You'll work across the North Shropshire portfolio and will be based on site. The role primarily operates during weekdays, but you'll also join the Duty Manager rota for weekends and bank holidays and ensure the team is confident in key systems and emergency plans. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll contribute to the wider operational and strategic direction of this growing portfolio.
What you'll be doing:Reporting to the General Manager, you'll lead the Facilities Team and work closely with estate teams and regional and national colleagues to maintain safe, compliant and welcoming places for everyone. You'll use resources effectively, improve our facilities and help deliver outstanding visitor experiences. You'll also oversee the delivery of key Business Services functions, ensuring effective customer service support, finance and banking processes, and business administration across the portfolio.
Your operation will be varied and fast paced. You'll monitor and deliver statutory compliance, oversee planned preventative and reactive maintenance, manage contractors and contracts, lead capital and improvement projects, and ensure the smooth delivery of essential facilities and business support services across the portfolio. You'll coach colleagues, promote good practice and build strong relationships across teams to support the successful delivery of our operational and strategic objectives.
You'll be accountable for all aspects of facilities management and Business Services, ensuring our buildings, infrastructure, visitor facilities and operational support services remain safe, efficient, compliant and effective.
