Are you passionate about supporting women to make positive changes in their lives?

At The Nelson Trust, we are committed to delivering exceptional services that make a tangible difference in the lives of people. One Wales is an innovative service aimed at providing engagement, support and diversion for Women and Young Adults (18-25) from the criminal justice system including at first contact within police custody.

The One Wales is a partnership between Nelson Trust, Media Academy Cymru, PACT, St Giles and BtheChange, dedicated to reducing reoffending and diverting people into appropriate support at the earliest opportunity.

This is a rewarding role where you will work in a gender-responsive and trauma-informed way, helping women to address areas such as housing, substance misuse, health, finance, previous trauma, children and families, and education, training and employment.

What you will do:

Provide 1:1 practical and emotional support to women
Hold a caseload of women accessing the service through community orders or resettlement from prison
Complete assessments and develop strength-based action plans
Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including Probation, HMP Eastwood Park, housing providers, social services, substance misuse services and health services
Provide outreach support to improve accessibility and engagement
Attend multi-agency meetings and advocate for women where appropriate
Facilitate group interventions where required
Maintain clear and accurate case records
Work in line with safeguarding, confidentiality and information-sharing requirements

What we are looking for:

Someone who is compassionate, resilient and committed to supporting women with multiple and complex needs.
Knowledge of women’s multiple and complex needs, such as domestic abuse, substance misuse, trauma, housing issues or contact with the criminal justice system
A trauma-informed and holistic approach
The ability to build trusting relationships with women who may find it difficult to access services
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to manage and prioritise a caseload
Good computer literacy and administrative skills
A commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity
A willingness to reflect on practice and continue developing professionally
Experience of working with women with multiple and complex needs, developing local partnerships, completing needs assessments or creating tailored support plans would be desirable.
You will need to have a valid full driving licence with full access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across Cwm Taf.
