Full job description

RP Fitness is an independent 24 hour gym in Cambridge. We are looking for a reliable, friendly Gym Assistant to support members during staffed hours.

This is a customer facing, front of house role with responsibility for the day to day presentation of the gym. The role involves working independently during staffed hours, so reliability, confidence and initiative are essential.

Hours and rota:

This role runs on a fixed 2 week repeating rota.

Week A

Monday: 10am to 2pm

Tuesday: 10am to 2pm

Wednesday: 10am to 7pm

Thursday: 2pm to 7pm

Friday: 10am to 7pm

Weekend off

Week B

Monday: 2pm to 7pm

Tuesday: 2pm to 7pm

Wednesday: Off

Thursday: 10am to 2pm

Friday: Off

Saturday: 10am to 4pm

Sunday: 12pm to 4pm

Average hours: 27.5 hours per week

Days worked: 5 days per week

Work one weekend a fortnight

Key responsibilities:

Greeting members on arrival and saying goodbye when they leave
Front desk and reception duties
Giving gym tours and answering general questions
Keeping the gym clean, tidy and well presented
Putting weights away and maintaining equipment presentation
Completing basic daily checks and light admin
Supporting members during staffed hours
Working independently and staying visible, available and proactive throughout the shift

This role involves manual handling, including lifting and moving weights of up to 25kg.

Good customer service skills

Confident speaking with members

Basic computer literacy

Able to stay proactive and complete routine tasks independently

Previous gym or customer facing experience is helpful but not essential. A positive attitude and reliability are key.
