About the Role

MPI Holdings Ltd is a well-established international trading company, supplying products to customers worldwide. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations & Logistics Manager to lead our operational support function, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our logistics and operational activities.

Reporting directly to the Company Directors, this is a hands-on management role that combines team leadership, operational planning and continuous improvement. You will oversee the Operations Team, manage the efficient processing of customer and supplier contracts, coordinate international shipments and identify opportunities to improve business systems and processes.

The office can be fast paced and it is critical to have superb organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload. The majority of our contracts are consigned via Ocean freight so experience within this field will be a huge advantage.

We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems before they arise and driving operational excellence across the business.

Location & Working Environment

Our offices are situated in the beautiful surroundings of a Sussex vineyard, providing a unique and picturesque working environment.

Due to our rural location, own transport is essential, as public transport links are limited.

This is a fully office-based role. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our Bolney office to effectively lead the team, support day-to-day operations and collaborate with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate and develop the Operations Team, ensuring workloads are effectively managed and deadlines are consistently achieved.
Oversee the day-to-day operational activities of the Operations department, ensuring shipments, documentation and customer requirements are completed efficiently and accurately.
Manage your own portfolio of customer and supplier contracts while supporting the wider team with their accounts.
Coordinate international shipments, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales.
Monitor operational workflows and implement improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy and productivity.
Develop and maintain operational procedures and systems that support the continued growth of the business.
Ensure effective communication across departments to facilitate the smooth delivery of business operations.
Anticipate operational challenges, forward plan effectively and implement proactive solutions to ensure the efficient delivery of customer orders and business operations.
Allocate responsibilities within the Operations Team and provide coaching and support where required.
Monitor team performance and identify training and development opportunities.

About You

An experienced manager with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing Logistics Team.
Experience in logistics, operations, international trade and sea freight will be an advantage.
An understanding of Inco-terms and payment terms is desireable
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
A positive 'can do' attitude
Proficient in all Microsoft applications - especially Microsoft Excel

Desireable but not essential

Commercially aware with experience of improving business processes.
Confident making decisions and taking ownership of operational performance.
