Arb Surveyor

Location: South of England

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Arboricultural Surveyor to join our growing Southern team, supporting a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, utility, and development projects across the South of England.

This is a predominantly field-based role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, identifying and assessing trees, collecting accurate survey data, and contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile projects.

You will work closely with our Arboricultural Consultants and wider environmental teams, carrying out a range of tree surveys and inspections that provide essential information to support planning, development, and asset management.

What you’ll do

You will undertake a wide range of arboricultural surveying activities, including:

Carrying out BS5837:2012 tree surveys to support development and planning projects
Completing Visual Tree Assessments (VTA) and general tree condition surveys
Recording accurate tree data using digital surveying equipment and specialist software
Identifying tree species, defects, physiological condition, and management requirements
Collecting measurements including tree height, stem diameter, crown spread, and site constraints
Supporting decay detection and further tree investigations where required
Assisting with tree protection monitoring and site inspections during construction phases
Liaising with consultants, clients, site teams, and project stakeholders
Ensuring all survey work is completed safely, accurately, and to a high professional standard

No two days are the same, and you’ll be involved in a variety of sites ranging from urban developments and infrastructure schemes to utilities and environmental projects.

What we’re looking for

Previous experience undertaking arboricultural surveys and inspections
Good working knowledge of BS5837:2012 surveys and tree assessment principles
A qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related discipline (Level 3, Level 4, or higher desirable)
LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection qualification (desirable)
Strong tree identification skills and understanding of common defects and disorders
Experience using digital survey systems and associated software
A good understanding of health and safety requirements when working on sites
CSCS and/or ROLO certification (desirable)
A full UK driving licence (clean)
A proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
