Oxfordshire Adult Learning (OAL) is seeking an enthusiastic Community Learning Lecturer to join our dynamic teaching team on a full-time, permanent basis.

OAL is a large and fast-paced faculty offering a diverse curriculum, including visual and creative arts, home crafts, languages, health and wellbeing, employability, community learning, and English, Maths and ESOL. Our work is driven by a commitment to widening participation, improving access to adult education, and positively transforming the health, social, and economic wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities across Oxfordshire.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated teacher who is committed to supporting learners within their communities. You will play a key role in building confidence, fostering engagement, and helping learners progress towards their personal and employability goals. The ability to connect with and inspire individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and with diverse needs is essential.

In this role, you will deliver a variety of community learning courses in partnership with local organisations such as Age UK, Action for Carers, Department for Work and Pensions. Our provision includes creative programmes, employability and digital skills, and qualifications at Levels 1 and 2.

The successful candidate will be flexible and able to travel to deliver courses both in community venues and on campus. A willingness to work across different locations in Oxfordshire, including some evening provision, is essential to meet the needs of our learners and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching on our Community Learning provision
Support, motivate, and inspire learners to achieve their full potential.
Contribute to curriculum development within the Oxfordshire Adult Learning faculty.
Work collaboratively within a passionate and experienced team.
Participate in employer and community engagement activities to enhance students’ employability.
Maintain accurate records in line with College requirements.

Essential Criteria

Qualified to degree level or equivalent.
Recogised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, AET).
Ability to relate to diverse learner groups.
Strong understanding of Safeguarding.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Criteria

Teaching experience in a Primary School setting
Previous teaching experience with adults.

Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction (must be completed within probation), followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET) including Assessor is required, and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. Completion of this structured learning programme is expected within 3 years. Furthermore, there is the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Learning Status (QTLS).
