Traffic Engineer – Contract

Location: Hackney, London

Rate: £28.11 per hour (Umbrella)

Contract: Temporary (Length to be Confirmed)

Pay: Bi-weekly

Job Description

Summary

The Traffic Engineer role is crucial in supporting the delivery of Traffic Order Making and highway improvement schemes within the London Borough of Hackney. As part of the Streetscene Service, you will play a vital role in developing, coordinating, and implementing traffic and highway projects. This position ensures that statutory obligations are met while providing a high-quality, customer-focused service.

Responsibilities

Traffic Order Making
- Support and execute the Traffic Order Making process from preparation to implementation.
- Prepare Traffic Management Orders (TMOs), Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), and related statutory documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and council policies.

Highway & Traffic Scheme Delivery
- Assist in the development and implementation of traffic and highway schemes.
- Monitor project progress to ensure timely delivery.
- Provide technical support to senior engineers and project managers.

Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare reports, correspondence, consultation documents, and technical records.
- Maintain accurate records and project documentation.
- Assist in report preparation for management, committees, and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with internal departments, statutory consultees, contractors, and the public.
- Attend meetings, consultations, and stakeholder engagement events.
- Respond to enquiries related to traffic management and highway schemes.

Data Management & Analysis
- Use IT systems to input, maintain, and analyze project data.
- Review plans, drawings, and technical information for service delivery.
- Contribute to performance monitoring and service improvement initiatives.

Service Improvement
- Support service objectives and performance targets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Traffic Engineering team.
- Promote best practices and value-for-money principles.
