Full job description

Based at the Boulevard Hotel, we are now seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our culinary team.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting food preparation and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts, hospitality, and food safety to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. The role involves working closely with senior chefs and kitchen staff to deliver high-quality dishes in a timely manner.

Duties

Assist in food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients.
Support the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from senior chefs
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in accordance with food safety standards
Supervise junior staff or trainees when required, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently
Manage food production schedules to meet service deadlines
Ensure all food items are prepared according to quality standards and specifications
Contribute to menu development ideas and presentation styles
Uphold high standards of hygiene, safety, and sanitation within the kitchen environment.

Requirements

Proven experience in food production, cooking, or kitchen roles within a hospitality or restaurant setting
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices
Prior supervising experience or leadership qualities are desirable
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Good team management skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices
Experience in hospitality or serving roles is advantageous but not essential
A proactive attitude with a passion for culinary excellence and customer satisfaction
Expected to pass a drug test
