The Role
The Storeman – Forklift Driver is responsible for the efficient running of the store.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately logging the movements of all the raw material, packaging, ingredients and products within the store using the stock control system.
- Carrying out regular stock checks, providing accurate reports and highlighting any stock errors.
- Checking the forklift daily to ensure that it is in good working condition. Any defects or safety defects must be reported immediately to the Stores and Logistics Manager, Stores Supervisor, Stores Chargehand or another manager on site.
- Reporting to the Stores and Logistics Manager, Stores Supervisor or Stores Chargehand any issues which are likely to affect the smooth running of the store and identifying any training requirements which may be beneficial to the role or the department.
- Use the RDT’s to scan stock in and out of the stores. This must be done with all movements and users need to ensure the information such as location, lot number, quantity is accurate.
- Always adhere to company policies including the personal hygiene policy, using correct manual handling techniques, and always wearing the correct PPE.
- The post holder will be required to work within our cold stores with temperatures of -20
- Understand, support, and promote brand integrity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
- Assist and/or work in other areas/departments as and when required when asked to do so by a manager, senior manager, or company director.

- Strong planning and organisational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of English (written, verbal and reading).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a professional approach and attitude.
- Experience of using a computerised purchasing and stock control systems is preferred but not essential.
- Valid forklift licence for counterbalance and/or reach trucks is preferred but not essential. Refresher training is provided at both our Boddam and Uddingston sites.
Hours of Work
- Your normal contractual hours of work will be 40, 45 or 48 hours per week. If you are contracted to 40 hours per week the normal dayshift working day is from 06:00-14:00, 07:00-15:00, 08:00-16:00, 09:00-17:00, the normal backshift working day is from 15:00-23:00, 16:00-00:00 or 17:00-01:00Monday to Friday inclusive. If you are contracted to 45 hours per week you will work five days in any seven and you will work nine hours per day. Your working hours are 06.00-15.00 or 15.00-24.00, Monday to Friday inclusive. If you are contracted to 48 hours per week you will work 4 consecutive shifts of 12 hours per day, followed by 4 consecutive days off. Your normal working hours will be 00-18.00 or 07.00-19.00. However, your working times may vary and will depend on the demands of the role and the needs of the business.
