Full job description

HGV Mechanic – DAF & Volvo Road Marking Fleet

We are looking for an experienced and reliable HGV Mechanic to join our team, working on a fleet of DAF and Volvo road marking vehicles.

This is a varied role for someone who can work independently, take responsibility for the maintenance of a busy fleet, and ensure vehicles are kept safe, reliable and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and organise the workshop workload and maintenance schedule.
Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on DAF and Volvo HGVs.
Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
Carry out repairs and ensure vehicles are returned to service safely and efficiently this could call for out of hours call outs where required.
Prepare vehicles for MOT testing, identifying and rectifying any issues beforehand.
Present vehicles for MOT and ensure all necessary documentation is maintained.
Carry out inspections and maintain accurate service and repair records.
Work closely with management and vehicle operators to prioritise urgent repairs and minimise vehicle downtime.
Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician.
Experience working on DAF and Volvo vehicles would be highly advantageous.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Good knowledge of HGV servicing, maintenance and repair.
Experience preparing vehicles for MOT.
The ability to plan workloads and prioritise tasks effectively.
A responsible, organised and proactive approach to work.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
An HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
