Full job description

We are searching for a hardworking, reliable person to join our independent sandwich shop as an Assistant. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a welcoming atmosphere for every guest in a very fast paced environment.

In this role, you’ll be the friendly face behind the counter, ensuring smooth service, maintaining high standards of food safety, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Whether you’re preparing coffees or assisting with food service, your energy will keep our coffee shop buzzing with positivity and efficiency.

This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic environment while sharing your passion for great coffee and excellent service.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, with precision and care
Assist customers by taking orders, answering questions about menu items, and providing friendly, attentive service
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workspace, including food preparation areas and serving stations
Ensure all food safety standards are followed diligently to uphold hygiene and quality control
Handle cash register operations accurately, including processing payments and giving correct change
Restock supplies such as cups, lids, napkins, and ingredients to ensure smooth daily operations
Support food preparation tasks when needed, including assembling sandwiches or snacks in accordance with health guidelines

Skills

Knowledge of food safety practices to ensure hygienic handling of food and beverages
Previous barista experience is preferred to efficiently make quality drinks and understand beverage recipes
Experience in serving customers with a friendly attitude that maintains repeat visits
Ability to assist with food preparation tasks while maintaining attention to detail and cleanliness
Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and managing inventory counts
Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods without sacrificing quality or safety
Excellent communication skills to engage positively with customers and team members
