Commercial Sales & Logistics Coordinator
Location: Bishop Sutton, near Bristol
Hours: Full-time, Permanent | Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 4:30pm
The Role
Lovell Stone Group is looking for an organised, commercially minded and customer-focused Commercial Sales & Logistics Coordinator to join our team at Bishop Sutton, near Bristol.
This is a varied role supporting the commercial operations of Forest of Dean Stone Firms, as well as our wider natural stone, hard landscaping and paving business.
You’ll be an important link between our customers, commercial managers, production teams and haulage partners. From responding to new sales enquiries and preparing quotations to coordinating orders, projects and deliveries, you’ll help make sure our customers receive a professional and reliable service from initial enquiry through to completion.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, asking questions and getting things done. You’ll need to be comfortable juggling different priorities, speaking with customers and colleagues, and following orders and projects through rather than simply passing information on.
For the right person, there is plenty of scope to develop. We see this role as a potential route into front-line sales and account management, particularly within our hard landscaping, public realm and premium natural stone paving markets.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as a first point of contact for Forest of Dean Stone Firms sales enquiries, as well as supporting enquiries across the wider Group when required.
- Qualifying incoming enquiries and identifying potential sales opportunities.
- Providing customers with information on products, availability, pricing, specifications and lead times.
- Preparing quotations, order acknowledgements and sales documentation.
- Following up quotations and supporting the commercial team with opportunities and customer relationships.
- Building relationships with architects, landscape architects, contractors, developers, merchants and private clients.
- Taking ownership of our DAKOTA order, stock and dispatch system and developing a detailed understanding of orders, stock, production and project progress.
- Supporting commercial, public realm and high-end residential landscaping projects from order through to delivery.
- Liaising with production teams to keep projects moving and customers updated.
- Arranging Forest of Dean Stone samples and supporting information for customers and specifiers.
- Coordinating deliveries and collections with customers, production teams and haulage partners.
- Monitoring delivery schedules, resolving issues and keeping customers informed.
- Helping develop and improve our logistics network and relationships with supply chain partners.
- Supporting weekly sales, logistics and stock reporting.
- Working with our marketing team to gather project information, site updates and photographs of work in progress and completed projects.
- Providing wider commercial and administrative support to Forest of Dean Stone Firms and the Lovell Stone Group when required.
About You
You don’t necessarily need experience in the natural stone industry, but you will need to be organised, confident communicating with people and commercially aware.
We’re particularly interested in someone who is naturally inquisitive and diligent. Someone who checks the detail, asks the right questions and takes responsibility for finding answers rather than waiting to be told what to do.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in sales support, customer service, logistics, contracts or business administration.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage several priorities at once.
- Good Microsoft Office skills and confidence learning CRM, ERP or order-processing systems.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above, together with A Levels, BTEC, NVQ or equivalent qualifications.
- A full driving licence, as occasional travel to our other sites will be required.
Experience within construction, manufacturing, building materials or logistics would be useful but isn't essential. Knowledge of Sage or similar systems, public realm projects, architecture, landscaping or premium paving products would also be an advantage.
Where the Role Can Take You
We are looking for someone who wants to develop with the business.
As you build your knowledge of our stone, products, customers and markets, there will be opportunities to take on greater commercial responsibility and potentially progress into a sales or account management position.
This could particularly suit someone currently working in sales support, logistics or customer service who is ready for a broader commercial role and wants the opportunity to build a career in sales.
