Looking for a fun, creative way to spend your summer while making a real difference in your community? Join us as a Summer Reading Challenge Volunteer in Cardiff's hubs and libraries!

What is the Summer Reading Challenge?

The Summer Reading Challenge is a national programme for children aged 4–11, designed to keep reading exciting over the summer holidays. It helps children stay engaged, build confidence, and discover the joy of books — all while earning rewards and certificates throughout.

This year, Cardiff libraries are hosting 30 exciting events (20th July – 1st September), filled with crafts, stories, and themed activities… and we need YOU to help make them magical.

What will you be doing?

As a volunteer, you’ll be right in the heart of the action:

Welcoming children and families with a friendly smile
Helping to set up and run crafts and themed activities
Chatting to children about what they’re reading
Helping create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment

Beth yw Her Ddarllen yr Haf?

Mae Her Ddarllen yr Haf yn rhaglen genedlaethol i blant 4–11 oed, wedi'i chynllunio i gadw darllen yn gyffrous dros wyliau'r haf. Mae'n helpu plant i aros yn frwdfrydig, meithrin hyder, a darganfod llawenydd llyfrau — a hynny i gyd wrth ennill gwobrau a thystysgrifau drwy gydol y cyfnod.

Eleni, mae llyfrgelloedd Caerdydd yn cynnal 30 o ddigwyddiadau cyffrous (20 Gorffennaf – 1 Medi), yn llawn crefftau, straeon a gweithgareddau thema… ac mae angen CHI arnom i’w gwneud yn hudolus.

Beth fyddwch chi'n ei wneud?

Fel gwirfoddolwr, byddwch chi yng nghanol y gweithgaredd:

Croesawu plant a theuluoedd gyda gwên gyfeillgar
Helpu i sefydlu a rhedeg crefftau a gweithgareddau thema
Sgwrsio â phlant am yr hyn maen nhw'n ei ddarllen
