Job Overview

Right at Home is a leading provider of high-quality home care services for older people, individuals living with dementia, and other vulnerable adults within local communities. The Caregiver role focuses on delivering personalised care and support that enables Clients to remain independent and continue living safely in their own homes. Caregivers are carefully matched with Clients based on their needs, interests, and personalities to promote companionship and meaningful relationships.

The role is centred on helping Clients achieve desired outcomes, whether that involves personal care, community engagement, maintaining independence, or simply providing companionship. Full training, induction, and ongoing career development opportunities are provided, making this an excellent opportunity.

Duties

Maintain the highest standards of care at all times.
Follow all Right at Home policies, procedures, and care standards.
Communicate effectively with the Registered Manager and report any concerns, changes, incidents, or safeguarding issues relating to Clients.
Provide overnight support and supervision to ensure Clients remain safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the night.
Assist with personal care, including toileting, continence care, washing, dressing, repositioning, and maintaining dignity.
Support Clients with medication in accordance with their care plan and level of training.
Monitor Clients' wellbeing and respond promptly to emergencies, falls, or changes in condition.
Carry out regular wellbeing checks as outlined within individual care plans.
Assist Clients with mobility, moving and handling, and transfers using safe working practices.
Prepare light meals, drinks, or snacks where required.
Complete light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
Maintain accurate digital care records and complete all required documentation during each shift.
Provide emotional support, reassurance, and companionship for Clients who may experience anxiety, confusion, or disturbed sleep.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, on-call staff, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Attend training, team meetings, supervision sessions, and performance reviews.
Maintain confidentiality and promote Clients' dignity, privacy, choice, and independence at all times.

Requirements

Good verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently during overnight shifts.
Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions in emergency or unexpected situations.
Ability to attend a 3-day training course and complete shadowing shifts.
Good IT and mobile phone skills to complete electronic care records.
UK/EU driving licence, access to a vehicle, and Class 1 business insurance (where applicable).
Genuine passion for providing outstanding care and improving the lives of others.
Caring, compassionate, patient, and professional approach.
Excellent reliability, punctuality, and commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Ability to build positive relationships with Clients, families, and colleagues.
Flexible attitude towards working overnight shifts, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining high standards of care.
