Full job description

Hours: 45 per week

Time: 06:00 am - 16:00 pm with 2 x 30 mins unpaid breaks.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To be reliable, punctual and a competent Packaging Assistant / Machine Assistant . To assist daily in the packaging department and to hand enclose jobs to the highest standard and meet the required deadlines. To assist the Production Managers and Supervisor with the day to day housekeeping of the Packaging area and to help others when the need arises. Also will have the ability to machine Assist when required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Package finished products according to company guidelines and specifications.

· Label, seal and prepare items for storage or shipment

· Inspect products and packaging for defects or damage

· Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the packaging area

· Assist with loading and unloading packaged goods when required

· Follow health, safety and quality control procedures always.

· Work closely with Manager and Supervisors and team members to meet daily targets.

· Assisting with covering machines as and when required

· The quality of work is of the highest standard.

· To provide cover for all Production areas.

· Deliver work efficiently while maintaining high accuracy and consistently meeting targets required

· Any discrepancies or errors are highlighted immediately to the Production Manager / Supervisor / Team Leader.

· To provide cover for all Production areas when required

· To ensure efficient and sooth running of all completed work to the relevant departments.

· Move printed materials, components, and work-in-progress items between production, finishing, and dispatch departments.

· Ensure accurate and timely delivery of items according to production schedules and job sheets.

· Handle all items with care, maintaining quality and preventing damage or loss.

· Use manual handling equipment (e.g., trolleys, pallet trucks) safely and effectively.

· Maintain clear records of all transfers, including time, origin, and destination.

· Communicate with managers and supervisors to coordinate movement priorities.

· Assist with general porter duties, including stock movement, waste disposal, and basic housekeeping.

· Follow Company Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Procedures

REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision

· Good attention to detail and time management

· Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift light to moderate items

· Basic literacy and numeracy skills

· Willingness to work in other production areas as and when needed

· Previous experience in packaging, warehouse or production roles is an advantage

· Willing to learn and take on new challenges

· Able to be flexible when working on various types of job (Hand Packing, Machine Assisting, running a machine if required.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: £12.71 per hour
