Full job description

Job Purpose

The Events Lead will create, develop and deliver an engaging annual programme of events and activities that brings people together, strengthens community connections and generates sustainable income for Centre4.

Working across the organisation, the postholder will develop a diverse events programme that reflects the needs, interests and aspirations of local people while contributing to Centre4's long-term financial sustainability. From children's activities and family events to wellbeing initiatives, community celebrations and events for older people, this role will ensure Centre4 remains at the heart of community life.

The Events Lead will be accountable for the commercial performance of the events programme, taking ownership of event budgets and profit and loss performance, whilst maintaining an exceptional experience for participants, partners and stakeholders.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Strategic Development

Develop and deliver Centre4's annual events and activities programme aligned with organisational priorities.
Create a balanced programme that delivers both community benefit and income generation.
Identify new event opportunities, partnerships and commercial ventures that increase unrestricted income.
Work alongside the Head of Business & Development to develop new concepts that enhance Centre4's reputation and sustainability.
Monitor trends, emerging opportunities and community interests to continually evolve the events programme.

Community Engagement

Work collaboratively with Centre4 project teams to understand the changing needs and aspirations of local communities and participants.
Ensure the voice of the community shapes the design and delivery of activities and events.
Develop inclusive events that engage people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
Build relationships with local organisations, businesses, schools and community groups to maximise participation.
Champion community involvement through volunteers, local groups and collaborative partnerships.

Event Planning & Delivery

Lead the planning, organisation and delivery of a varied programme of events throughout the year.
Coordinate all operational aspects including suppliers, staffing, volunteers, equipment, marketing and logistics.
Ensure events are delivered safely, professionally and within agreed budgets.
Evaluate each event to identify successes, lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
Maintain high standards of customer experience across every event.

Financial Management

Take ownership of Profit & Loss performance on each event.
Prepare event business cases, budgets and forecasts.
Monitor income and expenditure, ensuring events achieve agreed financial objectives.
Identify opportunities to maximise income through ticket sales, sponsorship, fundraising, stallholder fees and commercial partnerships.
Produce regular performance reports for the Head of Business & Development.
Delegated budget and forecasting responsibility ensuring projects and contracts are delivered to budget, with sufficient resources and best value.

Partnership & Sponsorship Development

Develop relationships with local businesses, sponsors and funding partners.
Secure sponsorship and commercial partnerships to enhance the events programme.
Work with Centre4 colleagues to maximise event opportunities and participation.
Represent Centre4 professionally at networking events and community meetings.

Marketing & Promotion

Work closely with our design agency to develop promotional materials for events.
Ensure events achieve strong attendance through effective marketing and community engagement.
Gather participant feedback and testimonials to measure success.

Leading teams

Promote continuous learning, reflective practice and professional development across the team.
Work with Line Manager to ensure that sufficient staffing and volunteer levels are recruited and maintained to deliver effective service and organisation objectives are met
Line management responsibilities for allocated team members ensuring continuous training and development, targets and objectives are met to high standards with a focus on team health and wellbeing and retention of staff.
Ensure effective team working, building harmonious and collaborative working across teams, the wider organisation and Centre4 community.
Oversee the supervision of volunteers assigned to area of work to ensure safe and effective training, delivery and supervision.

Compliance and quality

Safeguard children and vulnerable adults from harm and report concerns in accordance with Centre4’s internal and external referral arrangements.
Analyse performance information to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Produce accurate reports for senior leadership
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, GDPR, health and safety and all contractual requirements.
Always operate within health and safety procedures.
Ensure lone working practices are minimal and thoroughly risk assessed pertinent to individual circumstances.
Conduct risk assessments ensuring that teams are equipped to deliver safe services providing responsive support and guidance.

Monitoring and evaluation

Work with Line Manager to design and oversee monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess impact and delivery against objectives as appropriate.
Provide reporting and monitoring as needed, ensuring teams monitoring and evaluation requirements are met.
