What is the job role?

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Commissioning Officer to join our Strategic Commissioning Team, helping to shape and improve adult social care services across Coventry.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing high-quality, sustainable care and support services that enable people to live independently and achieve positive outcomes. Working closely with providers, people who draw on care and support, carers, operational teams and partner organisations, you will contribute to the commissioning, procurement, contract management and quality improvement of adult social care services.

The role will have an initial focus on autism and mental health, but the post-holder will be required to work across all areas of Adult Social Care.

The role involves supporting and project-managing a range of commissioning initiatives, including market development activities, procurement exercises, service redesign and contracting processes. You will work with stakeholders to understand local needs, analyse information and performance data, and help develop services that are responsive, person-centred and inclusive of all members of our diverse local community.

You will support the development and monitoring of contracts, contribute to quality assurance activity, work with providers to address quality concerns, and assist with service improvement plans. You will also play an important role in engaging with people who use services, carers and providers to ensure their views inform commissioning decisions and future service development.

This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to influence the quality of care and support available to adults across Coventry while developing your skills and experience within a supportive and ambitious team.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an individual with experience in adult social care or health, particularly around commissioning, contract management, quality assurance or project management. The ideal candidate would have a good understanding of autism and mental health and how this impacts people.

You will have an understanding of adult social care services and an awareness of the Care Act 2014, alongside an interest in improving outcomes for people who draw on care and support. Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, managing projects, supporting service development, analysing information or contributing to service improvement initiatives would be beneficial.

You will be able to gather and interpret information from a variety of sources, identify trends and make evidence-based recommendations to support decision-making. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can build positive relationships with providers, colleagues, partners, carers and people who use services. You will be passionate about equality, confident in engaging with a diverse range of individuals and committed to ensuring services reflect the needs of Coventry's communities.
