Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and personable Post Office Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service, managing postal transactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of the post office. This position offers an engaging environment where organisational skills, communication abilities, and multilingual proficiency are highly valued. The role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced setting and have a keen eye for detail.

Duties

Assist customers with postal services including mailing parcels, selling stamps, and processing transactions efficiently
Manage incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring accurate sorting and dispatching
Provide information about postal products and services to customers
Handle cash register operations with accuracy and integrity
Maintain organised workspaces and stock shelves as needed
Support upselling of additional postal services or products to maximise sales opportunities
Offer friendly assistance via phone and in-person, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
Ensure compliance with postal regulations and safety procedures at all times
Support merchandising efforts within the post office to enhance customer experience

Experience

Previous experience in retail, customer service, or postal services is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Multilingual abilities, particularly fluency in English and Spanish, are highly desirable to assist a diverse customer base
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on clear and courteous interaction
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Proven organisational skills to maintain a tidy workspace and manage multiple tasks efficiently
