Full job description

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced, commercially astute Credit Controller to take full ownership of our accounts receivable function on a part-time basis at our Sandbach Depot.

This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of a substantial sales ledger, and bring structure, discipline, and professionalism to our credit control processes from day one.

Working closely with our Account’s Team and Senior Leadership Team, you’ll play a key role in reducing aged debt, improving cash flow, and implementing effective credit control procedures. You’ll build strong relationships with our customers, balancing firm collections with excellent service to protect the long-term partnerships that are central to our business.

Key Responsibilities

Own and manage the full sales ledger and debtor book
Proactively chase outstanding invoices by phone and email in line with agreed procedures
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve invoice queries quickly and accurately
Produce regular aged debt reports and present progress to management
Set and monitor credit limits in line with company policy
Liaise with operations and account management teams to resolve billing disputes
Maintain accurate records of all customer communications and payment commitments
Support the implementation of improved credit control processes and systems using Sage.

About You

Proven experience in a senior Credit Controller or Accounts Receivable role.
Demonstrable success in reducing aged debt and improving cash collection performance.
Commercially minded, confident, and able to make sound credit decisions.
Strong negotiation and communication skills - confident on the phone, professional in writing, and skilled at handling difficult conversations with tact
Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage a high volume of accounts independently with minimal supervision
Excellent attention to detail and strong financial administration skills.
A team player who understands that collections is as much about relationships as it is about process
Experience with Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Excel.
