Full job description

As Assistant Plant Manager at our Gorst Energy facility, you will play a central role in delivering safe, efficient and sustainable operations. This is a hands-on leadership position where your engineering expertise and people skills combine to drive performance and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

Summary of what you will do

Support the day-to-day operation of the AD plant, maximising efficiency, uptime and biogas output using SCADA and control systems.
Coordinate team workloads and maintenance schedules to optimise productivity and minimise unplanned downtime.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on planned and reactive maintenance of pumps, conveyors, gearboxes and electrical equipment.
Manage feedstock deliveries, storage and dietary planning to ensure consistent process performance.
Promote a strong health and safety culture through site inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
Ensure compliance with environmental permits and liaise with regulatory bodies on all site obligations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, develop SOPs and support staff training and development.

What you will bring to the role

A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
Proven experience in process plant operations and maintenance.
Supervisory or management experience within an industrial or energy environment.
Working knowledge of SCADA systems and computerised maintenance management tools such as Fiix.
Strong analytical, IT and data reporting skills.
Excellent communication and organisational abilities with a proactive, hands-on approach.
A full UK driving licence.

Location

Gorst Energy AD Facility, on site. This is a full-time, site-based role with a 45-hour working week including occasional weekends and on-call availability as required.
