Dorking, Surrey

Location: Dorking, Surrey

Pay: £90 – £120 per day

Type: Temporary (possible permanent)

Hours: Full-time

Elementa is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEND and SEMH setting in Dorking, Surrey.

The provision supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, ADHD and trauma-related barriers to learning. The school provides a nurturing and supportive environment focused on helping students develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, your role will involve supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom to help them engage positively with education and overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities will include:

Supporting students on a 1:1, 2:1 or small group basis
Assisting the teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
Supporting students’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour regulation
Encouraging positive engagement with learning
Helping maintain a safe, structured and supportive environment
Promoting the school’s high expectations and values
Supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs
Assisting with safeguarding and pastoral support where required

The ideal candidate will have a calm, patient and resilient approach, with the ability to build positive relationships whilst maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.

Experience in a similar role is desirable, or previous experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work or support settings.

The contract is initially temporary, with the potential for a permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

A DBS on the Update Service would be preferable to allow for a quicker start date due to potential delays with new applications.

Contract & Recruitment Information

This includes full vetting and background checks and an Enhanced DBS Disclosure application (which may be chargeable at £53.20) unless you already hold a current Enhanced DBS subscribed to the Update Service.
