Permanent Contract- Part Time- 20 hours per week 08:00 - 12:00 Mon-Fri.

We are seeking a committed, compassionate, and proactive Attendance Support Worker who shares our vision and is passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and families.

About the Role

The Attendance Support Worker plays a pivotal role in improving pupil attendance and supporting children and families to overcome barriers to education. Working closely with school staff, pupils, parents/carers, and external agencies, you will help ensure that every child has the best possible opportunity to succeed through regular school attendance.

This is a rewarding role that combines daily attendance monitoring and welfare support with longer-term casework, family engagement, and multi-agency collaboration. You will build positive relationships with families, identify concerns early, and implement effective interventions to improve attendance outcomes for our pupils.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:
Monitor and track daily attendance, identifying concerns at the earliest opportunity.
Undertake first-day contact with parents and carers regarding pupil absence.
Conduct home visits and welfare checks where appropriate.
Work directly with pupils and families to identify and remove barriers to attendance.
Develop, implement, and review attendance improvement plans.
Analyse attendance data to identify patterns and trends and inform targeted interventions.
Liaise with safeguarding leads, SEND staff, senior leaders, and external agencies to provide coordinated support.
Support safeguarding processes where attendance concerns may indicate wider welfare issues.
Maintain accurate records and prepare documentation to support attendance procedures and, where necessary, statutory interventions.
Promote a positive culture of attendance across the school community.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

Number of teaching weeks - 38 weeks; plus
Public (bank) holidays - 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years service:
38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years service:
38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
