Full job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and reliable Senior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and work closely alongside our Head Chef.

As a country pub that takes pride in serving good-quality, locally sourced produce, we are looking for someone who shares our passion for excellent food, seasonal ingredients and creating good food, while also bringing creativity and fresh ideas to the kitchen.

The Senior Sous Chef will play a key role in maintaining high food standards, supporting the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistently high-quality dishes.
Help develop seasonal menus using fresh, local and sustainable produce wherever possible.
Take responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
Lead, motivate and support the kitchen team during busy services.
Maintain consistently high standards of food preparation, presentation and quality.
Ensure all dishes are prepared and served to the required specifications.
Help monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and minimise food waste.
Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and health and safety.
Support with staff training and development.
Work efficiently during busy services while maintaining a calm and professional approach.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a quality pub, restaurant or similar environment.
Is passionate about cooking with fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
Has excellent knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
Is confident leading a team and setting high standards.
Is organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure.
Takes pride in presentation and consistency.
Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a close-knit team.
Understands the importance of food hygiene, health and safety and allergen procedures.
Is creative and keen to contribute ideas while working alongside the Head Chef.
Is committed to delivering an excellent experience for every customer.
